Strict Chinese Covid protocols rule out physical Modi-Xi meeting at SCO

Read Time:2 Minute, 9 Second

The tight and complicated Covid-19 quarantine procedure and quarantine to be followed by everyone who met with Chinese President Xi Jinping made the possibility of attending the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit in Samarkand on 15-16 September which was very remote. This means that there is a few opportunities for Prime Minister Narendra Modi who held a face-to-face meeting with the President of China on the sidelines of the SCO Summit when India took over the presidency of multi-lateral organizations from Uzbekistan this year.

In pursuing Zero Covid’s policy, President XI himself seems to have to undergo quarantine procedures after a Hong Kong legislator, who appeared in a group photo with eternal leaders, was tested positively during the first Chinese president of the journey outside of the mainland since Pandemi began. Although he was in Hong Kong and Macau for less than 24 hours on July 1, President XI only met people who had undergone strict quarantine procedures.

While Indonesian President Joko Widodo today will be the first leader to meet Xi Jinping in two years who will be received individually by Beijing separately from the February Winter Olympics, he must test Covid before he took a flight to China and tested again after he landed in Beijing . His meeting with the Chinese president was scheduled today only after the covid results came out negatively. Indonesia currently holds the G-20 presidency and is a key player in Indo-Pacific with Autocratic China and the democratic world seducing the island state located strategically.

Unless SCO makes an impossible exception for President XI and enforces a strict test schedule for all leaders present such as PM Modi, Russian President Vladimir Putin, leaders of the Central Asian Republic and Prime Minister Pakistan, the opportunity for President XI who attended the Summit was very remote and far from the remote. The possibility of the meeting of PM Modi or other leaders physically ruled out because all officials who attended the meeting had to undergo complicated quarantine procedures before dialogue during the summons.

According to diplomatic sources, while Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will attend SCO Foreign Minister on July 28-29 in Samarkand and may meet his colleagues in India, President XI will make a virtual performance at the SCO Summit with several senior Chinese leaders present in it interest. Because the Chinese regime actually enforces cruel acts by sealing the building complex and even cities to hold the virus, the Chinese president is unable to make him seen as the above law and avoid quarantine procedures.
