The hero of the actor Bangladesh, Alom, who has big fans on the internet, was dragged by the police and told to stop singing his songs. He has nearly two million Facebook followers and nearly 1.5 million customers on YouTube.Arabic songs, where he appeared in traditional Arabic clothing in the sand mound with camels who were hosted in the background, had collected 17 million appearances, reporting AFP. Alom, however, has been criticized by several quarters to bring the classic songs of Laureate Rabindranath Tagore and Bangladesh Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam.
Speaking to AFP, Alom said that he was “mentally tortured” by the police last week and was asked to stop bringing classic songs. Alom also claimed that he was told “he is too ugly to become a singer,” and signs the “apology” bond. “Police picked me up at 6 am and made me stay there for eight hours. They asked why I sang Rabindra and Nazrul songs,” Alom told AFP.
Head of Detective Dhaka Harun Ur Rashid told reporters that Alom had apologized for singing songs that were loved and for wearing police uniforms without permission in his video. “We accept many complaints against him. (He) really changes the style (traditional) (singing). He convinced us that he would not repeat this,” Harun added.
Farook Hossain, Deputy Commissioner of Police Dhaka, rejected the claim by Alom that he was also asked to change his name.
“He made this comment only to become viral on social media,” he told AFP. However, his fans are angry on social media with several parts that call it an attack on individual rights. Pahlawan Alom told AFP that he had appeared in several films and also participated in the Bangladesh parliamentary election in 2018 as an independent candidate – gathering 638 votes. “I feel like a hero. So I take the name of the Hero Alom. I will not drop this name whatever happens. At present, it seems you can’t even sing with freedom in Bangladesh,” he said.
