Early life
On September 11, 1962, in Los Angeles, California, James and Carolyn Mcnichol welcomed their daughter Christina Ann Mcnichol to this world. She is of Irish and Lebanese descent. Her father was a carpenter, while her mother worked on different jobs to support the family, and those include being secretary, seller of cosmetics and extra movies. McNichol has two brothers, Jimmy Mcnichol, who is also an actor and singer, and Tommy Mcnichol. When she was six years old, her parents divorced her, which was difficult for her. The custody of the three children was taken by her mother. McNichol and her older brother Jimmy were making many efforts to increase the level of performance they could offer, and used to appear in some commercials when they were children.
Career
McNichol’s career began at an early age. She was only six years old when she first appeared in commercials and later on television programs. In 1974, McNichol made his television debut in an Apple’s Way drama. She at that moment was only 12 years old. Two years later, she won the role that earned two Emmy awards for the best cast actress in a dramatic series. The role was in the family of the dramatic television series. In 1977, she made several musical numbers during her appearance in the television special, The Carpents at Christmas, and a year later, she recorded the album Kristy and Jimmy Mcnichol for RCA Records. The same year, the brothers acted in a second vacation special, called The Carpents: to Christmas Portrach.
In 1977, Mcnichol’s film race began. She acted in a suspense movie Black Sunday, but her scenes were cut during the edition. This did not discourage her, and a year later, she starred in the black comedy movie, The End. In 1980, her performance in the successful Little Darlings film was acclaimed by many critics. She was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for the best cast actress for her role in When I Laugh (1981). She was also nominated for a Golden Raspberry award for the worst actress for her perfromance in a 1982 Australian musical comedy film The Pirate Movie. Four years later, she starred in a television war drama movie about World War II, women of value, which portrays T.J. Nolan.
Until now, McNichol appeared in 22 films and 19 television programs. In 2011, at the age of 39, she decided to retire from the performance. The reason for her was that she could not keep up with the level of actions with which she promised, due to her bipolar disorder. After her retreat, Mcnichol taught acting in a private school in Los Angeles.
