The WhatsApp group link can be very comfortable when you want to make a big group quickly. Links that can be shared allow the admin to only share it while all relevant users can join the group through the link. However, this comfort also opens security vulnerability because the link can end in the wrong hands and anyone can join the group.
The new WhatsApp update is now looking to fix this problem. Among the new features, the latest Beta WhatsApp update also includes admin approval features, which when activated, will allow the WhatsApp group admin to accept or reject the requests of people who join through the link. The news came from Wabetainfo, and suggested that features – currently only limited to beta users – will soon be available for the stable version of the application on Android and iOS both.
The admin approval feature on WhatsApp needs to be turned on manually when available, for each group admin wants the feature to function. Toggle to turn on or turn it off will be available in the group settings as “group membership approval” and every time the feature is turned on or turned off, all users in the group will be sent a quick warning to tell them about the change. After the group membership approval feature is turned on, every time someone tries to enter the group through a link that can be shared, the admin will find the same waiting request in a separate sub-section in the group info section. Admin can then choose the user they want to allow to enter the group from here.
New Gender Neutral Emoji
New WhatsApp updates also introduce new gender neutral emojis in the application. A report by Wabetainfo also shows that this new emoji will also be available in several skin colors, including the default golden tone. This feature is currently only in beta and may take time before appearing in the stable version of WhatsApp.
