Ashwani Kumar was an IPS official who filled in as Governor of the Indian province of Nagaland, and momentarily as Governor of Manipur during 2013. Ashwani Kumar purportedly ended it all on 7 October 2020 balancing himself at his home in Brockhurst in Shimla.

Ashwani Kumar, a 1973 cluster official of the Indian Police Service, headed the Central Bureau of Investigation from August 2008 to November 2010. He was the DGP of Himachal Pradesh from August 2006 to July 2008 and was the Director of CBI between 2 August 2008 and 30 November 2010.
